Adaptive Rigging for Complex Modular Building Installation:
A case study in collaboration with Delta Homes

Introduction
What started as a chance roadside interaction quickly turned into a complex lifting solution delivered under pressure.
After spotting an LGH ute driven by Business Development Manager Brad Purves, Delta Homes’ Managing Director, Dean Luland, made sure to flag him down. His message was simple: “We need your gear.”
At the time, Delta Homes had a modular home project underway with no defined rigging solution in place. With time already against them, this marked the beginning of LGH Australia’s first project with Delta Homes, and a race to deliver the right solution, fast.
Challenge
Delta Homes was fabricating a modular home made up of six individual building sections, each needing to be lifted at the yard, transported, and installed on-site.
While modular construction is designed for efficiency, the lifting scope introduced significant complexity. No two modules were the same. Each varied in size and structure, with lifting requirements ranging from six pick points on the smaller modules through to ten on the largest.
This meant every lift required a different rigging configuration.
With time already against them, the team needed a way to move seamlessly from one lift to the next—without lengthy reconfiguration or delays. Traditional rigging approaches would have added unnecessary height, increased setup time, and reduced overall efficiency.
At its core, the challenge was clear: create a versatile lifting solution that could handle multiple pick points, adapt quickly between configurations, and keep the project moving.
The Solution
LGH Australia worked closely with Delta Homes to propose a solution that could bring consistency to an otherwise highly variable lifting scope.
Drawing on global in-house support from LGH USA, a tailored lifting configuration was developed for each module in collaboration with Lift Planner Taylor Savage. Rather than treating each lift as a separate problem, the focus was on creating a system that could adapt quickly while maintaining a consistent, controlled approach.
To achieve this, LGH supplied a fully integrated rigging package, built around flexibility and speed.
Key components of the solution included:
- Two sets of CMODs, which significantly reduced headroom compared to traditional setups
- Multi-lug and multi-hook systems that allowed for fast adjustment of pick points across different module designs
- Custom multi-point configurations capable of handling up to ten pick points per lift
- A complete rigging package including slings, shackles, and associated lifting gear, ensuring full compatibility across all lifts
This combination meant the rigging could be quickly reconfigured between lifts, allowing the team to move in a structured and efficient way—without compromising safety or precision. The ability to adapt to varying pick points across each module was critical in maintaining both speed and control throughout the lifting process.
All equipment was prepared and delivered within a tight timeframe, ensuring the project could proceed without delay.

The Outcome
Through close collaboration between Delta Homes and LGH Australia, the project was executed smoothly from start to finish.
All modules within the scope were successfully lifted, transported, and installed, with each lift executed as planned at both the fabrication yard and on-site. The ability to efficiently adapt rigging configurations between lifts helped maintain a consistent workflow and minimise downtime across the project.
The combination of reduced headroom, multi-point lifting capability, and a streamlined rigging approach delivered a safe and efficient outcome.
Following the success of this initial project, LGH Australia is scheduled to continue supporting Delta Homes with their remaining modular installations in the coming weeks.
