LGH (Lifting Gear Hire), the world’s largest organisation solely dedicated to lifting and moving equipment hire, has officially launched in Australia. Headquartered in Somersby on the Central Coast of New South Wales, LGH Australia will supply a wide range of rental equipment, including hoists and clamps, hydraulic jacks and rams, rigging gear like slings and modular spreader beams, and general material handling solutions. While the initial focus is on NSW, the fleet is available nationwide.
LGH serves virtually every industry with a need to move heavy loads across Europe and North America. Australia was a prime target for expansion due to its similar market sizes in the construction, infrastructure, mining, energy, petrochemical, marine, and offshore sectors. Although hiring equipment is not unknown in this market, the eight-strong launch team are focused on delivering LGH’s long-standing commitment to provide expert technical know-how, the highest level of customer service and top-quality equipment to contractors.
Trusted Partnerships, Proven Quality
LGH continues to work with long-term supply partners, including national manufacturers SpanSet and Durapac, and global suppliers such as Tiger Lifting, JD Neuhaus, and Modulift. Each partner is carefully selected for their commitment to quality, performance, service, innovation, and safety.
Since its founding in 1970, LGH has grown into a multinational company with operations across the UK, North America, and Europe. The company remains focused on delivering safe, reliable equipment backed by technical expertise and service customers can trust.
Global Growth
Ian Parkinson, Chairman, said:“Expanding into Australia is the biggest step we’ve taken since opening our first hub outside the UK in Chicago, USA, back in 1990. LGH has always been growth-driven, and expansion is key to both our current and future success. Our global locations thrive in regions with strong industrial activity and strict health and safety standards—making Australia a natural fit. With the country’s growing economy and ongoing investment in infrastructure, manufacturing, construction, and defence, we’re excited to help these dynamic sectors thrive.”
He continued:“Australia’s lifting gear market is well developed. Our goal is to build strong relationships across the trade, supporting firms that want to broaden their re-rental options.”
Ian concluded:“We’ve long wanted to enter the Australian market but knew the timing and investment had to be right. Backed by 55 years of experience in highly competitive North American and European markets, LGH now brings its proven expertise, premium equipment, and service excellence to Australia.”
